TRUMBULL COUNTY PHYSICIAN BECOMES PRESIDENT OF OHIO STATE MEDICAL ASSOCIATION

(Warren, OH – May 20, 2006) James M. Sudimack, M.D., President of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Medical Staff and Chief of the TMH Center For Emergency Medicine, was installed as President of the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) at the organization’s Annual Meeting in Cleveland on Saturday, May 20, 2006.

“It’s a great honor to represent physicians at a state and national level, and I’m looking forward to a busy year and many interesting challenges, “ said Dr. Sudimack about becoming OSMA President. Dr. Sudimack, a past president of the Trumbull County Medical Society, is the first member of the Trumbull County Medical Society since 1856 to become President of the OSMA. His father, Joseph Sudimack, Jr., M.D., also served as president for the OSMA in 1972 but was from the Columbus area.

“We are fortunate to have an individual like Dr. Sudimack representing physicians in Ohio,” stated Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, Executive Vice President and COO, ForumHealth-Trumbull Memorial Hospital.“He is an extremely strong proponent for the critical issues facing hospitals and physicians today. He acutely understands the complex balance between economic pressures and the health care delivery system.Dr. Sudimack will work vigorously to advocate change for innovative health care initiatives and bring awareness to the difficulties physicians face throughout our state.”

Dr. Sudimack has been a member of the active staff at Trumbull Memorial Hospital since 1987 and serves as Medical Director for Emergency Services at TMH. Additionally, he is the Chief Medical Officer for the Eastern Region of Emergency Professional Services, Inc. and a fellow of the AmericanCollege of Emergency Physicians.

A board-certified emergency medicine physician, Dr. Sudimack has been actively involved with the OSMA since 1981, serving in various capacities including Sixth District Councilor and Chair of OSMA Auditing and Appropriations Committee. He is a delegate to the American Medical Association House of Delegates and is a member of the OSMA’s Focused Task Force on State Legislation and Committee on Emergency and Disaster Care.

Finding ways to remedy and improve the problem of patient access to care is a goal that Dr. Sudimack hopes to achieve while president of the OSMA. “Five or ten years ago the problem was the way in which people accessed care,” said Dr. Sudimack. “Today that has changed dramatically for patients across Ohio.”
